COVID-19
After taking time to read advice from Government and various articles relating to COVID -19 and musical instruments, please find below measures to try and minimize the spread of COVID -19 for customers visiting my workshop. I can make no guarantees, but I have tried to implement what I feel are sensible measures to keep both customers and myself safe. Please feel free to discuss any of this when booking in a visit.
Visits to my workshop are strictly by appointment only.
Please do not visit if you have any symptoms of COVID - 19. Your appointment can be rearranged.
Only one customer at a time may visit, or if aged 18 or below accompanied by one adult.
On entering the workshop please scan the QR code to enable track and trace. Wash hands, use sanitizer and wear a face mask.
Please maintain social distancing.
When dropping off for repairs please ensure that instruments have been pulled through and are dry, including the mouthpiece and that sockets etc are also dry from playing.
Please do not leave reeds, swabs or any accessories in your case.
* After instruments have been dropped off I will wait 4 days before starting any work.
Once the work has been completed, if I need to test the instrument I will do so with my own mouthpiece and reeds, unless mouthpiece work is required. I will then pull the instrument through with a clean swab making sure the instrument and sockets etc are dry.
I may lightly wipe the keys down with an isopropyl alcohol wipe being careful not to make contact with the wood.
If I have carried out mouthpiece work (ebonite mouthpieces) I will wash the mouthpiece in warm soapy water and then use a recommended mouthpiece cleaning spray. (I will discuss this cleaning with the customer)
* Instruments will be ready for collection 4 days after the work has been completed.
Ideally I would prefer testing to be done at home, but I understand that players may want to check the work, so if required it will be done in a specific area which will be cleaned afterwards.
* I understand that COVID-19 can remain on wood for up to 4 days.
